Taking box making beyond the basics, you will construct 2 to 3 different box structures based on traditional designs. This workshop requires very precise measuring and cutting of board pieces to construct a multi layered box that is then covered in beautiful decorative paper. With practice, these straightforward techniques can be applied to other to diverse shaped and styled boxes that look great and can be used for anything from gift boxes to desk sets to storage chests.
On completion of the workshop students will leave with their own handmade boxes and the skills to make more at home using minimal equipment. Introduction to Bookbinding 4 is the last in a four-part series of introductory bookbinding workshops
Please note:
Suitable for complete beginners includes tea, coffee and biscuits.
All materials and tools provided, you will go home with your own set of lino cutting tools and some rubber blocks to continue your new passion.
This is a technical workshop, anyone with enthusiasm for making books and sewing is welcome to join in. No experience is necessary, but the workshop requires a certain level of capability and confidence in using sharp instruments and being able to follow verbal instructions is expected.
