Course Information:
This course teaches the rudiments of making books by hand and provides techniques for refining these skills. Traditional book structures are explored, using materials that will endure over time. Students have access to a wide range of tools and equipment to ensure the creation of attractively designed, well-constructed books. This class prepares students to explore bookbinding on their own or continue with more advanced studies.
What techniques will we cover?
You will learn grain direction, paper cutting, sewing sections and leather paring and covering books with leather. You will be taught to use a variety of tools and materials and how to apply them to the sewing and construction of your book. By the end of this five weeks course, you will learn skills fundamental to hand bookbinding with leather and be able to repeat and practice all the skills learned.
You will learn:

- be introduced to leather paring
